Intel makes alot of CPU's, and I havent even gotten to research AMD CPU's.

Could someone give me their favorite CPU for around 225~?

Currently I think im going to get the i5-7600k, but I also see the i5-6600k, and the i5-7500.

Any help? I do video edit for youtube but nothing serious, game alot, and I want a fast CPU, and I'm also getting a GTX 1060

ryzen 5 1600 plays games great and is better than a i7 7700k in workflow scenarios.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

right now it is either go ryzen 5 1600/1600x or cheap up using a b250/h110m motherboard with the locked i7 7700.... whatever you do; DO NOT buy an i5 7600k... that processor lost its purpose in today's world where more threads are so essential.

Okay I see everyone says Ryzen 1600 or 1600x... What is the difference between those 2 speed wise? is the 1600x worth 30 dollars more?

The 1600x is worth only if you want to make sure it will overclock to its full potential, if you're not too demanding with overclocking you're better off saving the 30 dollars to get better faster frequency RAM and going with the 1600... both are 6c/12t which is the most important feature of it.

Is userbenchmark a good site? I see 1600 blows the 7600k out of the water in multicore, but it still says that the 7600k has a 20% faster effective speed.

One of the more reliable sites I'd say :P

Skylake is about 10% better IPC wise which is partially why the 7600K seems to be "better". The 7600K is also clocked higher at stock speeds plus UBM includes CPUs that are OCed and I'm tempted to say most 7600K have been OCed which probably boosted the difference even more.

When both are side by side at the same clocks, the 1600 is much much better when all 12 threads are utilised while single core/thread wise, the 1600 will be about 10% slower. Just get the 1600, games now actually like more cores where we can now actually recommend a CPU with a slightly lower IPC but has 3X the threads and 1.5X the cores :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

What? As I said, there seriously is nothing here :)

userbenchmark is good for broad comparisons, but there is far more to it, nowadays applications, games, everything has been getting more and more multi-threaded making it the new standard, the 1600x is by all means a better chip than the 7600k
