Alright, my first pc build is almost complete, all the parts check however what worries me is the windows, my quetion is what happens if i dont have windows 10. Reason why im asking this is because as i look for a solution, i see videos saying to download windows 10 on a usb from a pc that already has one (Paul's Hardware) and because this is my first pc build, thats out the window. So it always got in my head on what happens if i cant, will i be provided with a "default" windows? or will something happen at all? i require assistance!!!

on a computer that you built yourself, you don't have any operating system at all. You must find another computer that already has windows then download and create an install key from that computer.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

but unless you have a key, you would be able to install and use it as you wish, but you couldn't activate it whyb will stop you from customizing it and removing the "activate windows" watermark in the bottom right.

If you can't get another pc to create a usb key, you can go buy windows at a store as it'll have both.

that would not help, OP doesn't currently have an issue with activation, he just doesn't have the installation media at all.

Try reading farther down a page to the part where you can just download windows 10 to a USB from any computer and use it unactivated.

The computer you use to download it doesn't need to be windows 10.

now that part of buying windows, i found a website called "Kinguin" selling windows 10 oem for only around 25 dollars, would this also be a good place to purchase windows 10?

It's fine. Are they going to mail you an OEM disk or will you still have to dl it, save to usb, and install it from there? My guess is the latter.

It does not have to be Windows 10 either. If you know someone with an unused Windows 7 license you can use that (if they are not using it). If for some reason they ask you to call to activate, just say you switched hard drives because you got a virus.

The problem is you will need installation media. You need another computer. Even a really old laptop would work.

You would still need another PC to make a bootable USB drive. About the website, yes, it is a good place to buy Windows, but keep in mind that Microsoft won't help if you have any activation problems or problems like that with an OEM version.

Not if they send a disk. Oh wait, she doesn't have an optical drive.

No, these Kinguin keys are only the key and nothing else (especially the OEM ones)

At least they are legit. I almost downloaded an AAA game from cdkeys for $1.19 today, but I felt guilty (The game is only $43 usd anyway). I was reading their tos and they swear they don't generate keys, but they are taken from returned hard copies that did not work. Yeah right, 10's of thousands of hard copies of a AAA game released last month rma'd... For a buck.

The good thing is that if these W10 keys are not legit (it's really hard to tell if they are or not) and M$ blocks it, Kinguin protection will give you a refund

okay there are many good options here but a little kick to the brain. So to draw it down, basically first ever computer, no other desktops or anything, how would i go about getting some kind of windows on my pc? phew~

Go to Walmart and buy an 8gb+ usb flash stick (Drive) ($5 usd) or a 16 gb for $7.

Go to any computer with a USB port. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

Save the iso file to the usb drive. Take it back home to your pc. Plug in the stick. Double click the iso and follow the steps.

The thumbs up is for building your first PC and not being afraid/ashamed to ask questions. Good Job!

Don't save the iso file to the usb drive, that just doesn't work, use a program that can create a bootable usb drive

This web site shows a pretty simple way to do it. Again, you will need access to a computer. If anyone has a simpler method, please list to simplify as much as possible. With first time builds, little things can add up and seem overwhelming, and making iso files usable without help for the first time is a pain. Not hard, but the steps can be a bugger. I know it says 7, but is fine for 7, 8, and 10.

Okay so I tried doing this (bought a usb 16 gb) and went on my neighbor's computer however when it finished, it said there was a error installing the tools (however before completion i saw a few things in my usb i assume is from the installation) and now i cant acces the usb, Im assuming that its already set and that i have to put it in my new pc, right?

You may need to go back to your friends house if you did not use Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool  when making the usb boot disk.

I was up until after 3:30 am my time helping someone stuck on windows 7 enterprise edition who built a new AMD system then just swapped HD's from an intel system and could not use the mouse, could not type her password et. It was a mess. Everyone else gave up around midnight, but we finally got it done. Lol, kinda. Now she can't find her profile, but there was no format or fdisk, so all the info is still there. It was more than frustrating, and I am still a bit rgoggy from the 3 hours of sleep and all this pc stuff jumbling around in my head.
