Best 1TB M.2 SSD?

Hello,

I have a thing for silent computers, and when I'm not gaming on my laptop, the loudest thing, surprisingly, is the mechanical hard drive.  To fix this issue and to have a basically silent computer when it's not gaming, I would like to purchase an M.2 SSD, preferably with 1TB of storage.  I would probably take the 4TB mechanical drive and stick it in an external enclosure, as I use barely any of it anyway.

Because my 15 R3 has 3(?) places to stick an M.2 drive and one is taken, would it be cheaper to buy a singular 1TB or two 512 GB SSDs and run those in RAID 0?  Which would be the most cost effective?  Budget is $350, I prefer to spend my self given PC allowance money on my desktop.

Doesn't it yield faster speeds though?

And more problems and complications and risk of losing stuff.

Best is kinda subjective on an M.2. most reliable? Smallest? Great priced? Most stable? ECC support?

But IMO get 1 large drive vs 2 smaller ones. Make sure the one you get isn't TLC, and compare the speeds.

960 Pro is the best. 960 Evo if you don't want to pay the premium

I don't need THAT fast of a drive.  Mainly all I store on my large drive is games, and I probably wouldn't notice the difference in speed between a 960 Pro and something like a WD Blue.
