Would I have a much bigger overclocking headroom compared tofor example a G1 or SC? Also, I had a Fury X and had some issues with installing the radiator, would you say this would be easier to install? Thanks

If you had issues with installing the Fury's radiator, avoid the Seahawk as it doesn't overclock better, it just runs cooler. The G1 and SC overclock just as well (and sometimes better) but run a bit hotter.

I didn't actually use the R9 Fury X. I tried installing it, but it didn't ome with the mounting equipment as it was used. Please ignore what I said about the Fury X. What sort of temps and clock speeds will I be getting with the 1070 Seahawk X? Thanks

AFAIK the Gigabyte ones are low quality compared to EVGA/ZOTAC/ASUS

Temps, I think 40-50C. Clock speeds, probably 2000-2100MHz (which is the fastest speed most 1070s can achieve)

Overclocking capability?

Less power phases and higher temps IIRC.

however, my brother is running a G1 1070 at stock, and has temps around the low/mid 70s, while my ASUS STRIX has lower temps while overclocked and overvolted +100mv

Nobody knows. Overclocking beyond factory speed is down to silicon lottery. Voltage required to get the OC stable is anyone's guess. Temps is the delta above ambient (which is not the same for everyone) and also affected by core voltage, case air flow.

Personally I'd avoid the Sea Hawk as the rad is only 120mm. Having an AIO integrated is an additional point of failure, and a 120mm mounting spot required. Not to mention if you have a windowed case, the shroud of the Sea Hawk doesn't look good.

Point of failure? Also personally, I don't mind how it looks. I have a TG case and I don't mind. As for the issue with the 120mm fan, I'm using an air cooler, so it doesn't matter too much.

That's weird, my 1080 G1 doesn't go higher than 71C... (OC mode)

if the pump dies your card is going to overheat. pump dying is an extra point of failiure

well I tested with furmark, so that probably added a few degrees.

anyway, i looked at reviews and it seems like the G1 models aren't bad compared to the rest. my bad.

@IAR117 the G1 card is fine. no worse than the competition.

Oh, that explains it. I checked temps while playing Star Wars Battlefront (this is when the card got to 71C) and while running the superposition benchmark (the card only got up to 68C :D)

Yeah game temps are considerably lower than furmark, although I'm surprised that superposition only got you to 68c. I haven't tried it on my GPU yet, but I'd assume it generates more heat than a game.

P.S. What do you think about superposition? Graphics are insane but it's like a hydraulic press for GPUs.

It is a PC KILLER! My 1080 can't get higher than 32 FPS at 1080p (with the extreme preset)

BTW, if you run the benchmark post your score here: :D
