First time liquid cooling, help!

Go to solution Solved by atomicus,

Don't waste your money on the H55. Small AIOs like that are just pointless and almost any decent air cooler will better them, plus it will be noisier. Unfortunately the S340 is slightly height restricted so several top end coolers just won't fit, but you should look closely at the Noctua NH-D14 or Phanteks PH-TC12DX. They will fit, and both will still perform better than most AIOs, particularly 120/140 size rads. 240/280 are better, but I wouldn't bother with the Seidon, it's not quiet and doesn't perform that well based on benchmarks I've seen. That said it is cheap, but you get what you pay for. You'll be better off with one of the above air coolers. The Noctua is slightly more expensive but will kick the Seidon's ass. AIOs aren't worth the money, even at the top end.

I was thinking about buying either Corsair Hydro Series H55 or Cooler Master Seidon 240V (case nzxt s340 elite red), I haven't checked if seidon would fit but it seems like it would. What do you guys recomand, also what precautions would I need to take if I use liquid cooling, never build a pc before. Also would it be enough for an i5 7600k overclocked?

For maximum cooling potential a 240mm or 280mm rad would be ideal especially if you plan to overclock your system.

yeah should be enough

get the biggest one you can tho

with an aio there isnt anything to worry about so no 'precautions' to take (even with a custom loop if u do it right it will RARELY leak)

never get a 120 or 140mm aio

they all use slim rads which are bad enough but they cost too much and don't perform as well as a good air cooler

if u are going to get an aio always get the biggest one that will fit

^ Agree.

If only doing the CPU, just through an air cooler on the it.
