So it says here (specifications -> detail) "7th Gen A-series/ Athlon processors support a maximum of DDR4 2400 Mhz" even though the motherboard supports speeds up to 2667 MHz, while motherboard with the same chipset supports speeds up to 2400 MHz, how can a motherboard support speeds that aren't supported by the CPU, and why does the motherboard with the same chipset lack support for higher speeds?

There are multiple lines of CPU's released in the AM4 series, Ryzen (R7 as of now and soon R5), Athlon and A series CPU's. That motherboard mentions those lower speeds on the latter two CPU's. Ryzen does support faster memory.

The CPU probably only "officially" supports up to 2400 MHz but ram can be overclocked. It's the same with pretty much everything else.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

The bazooka is a "gaming" board. They'll advertise faster memory speeds to appeal to the buyers.

But athlon and A series am4 CPUs don't exist.

Can every memory be overclocked (for example can ram with 2400mhz clock rate be overclocked to 3000mhz)?If the 1st MB supports speeds up to 2667mhz shouldn't the 2nd one support too?

A series CPU's are OEM only (AKA for companies to build pre builts). Athlons aren't out yet

Why advertise faster ram if it isn't supported?

But....it is
