Dust prevention fun

Short and sweet for your pleasure and my laziness.

 

1. I just did a monthly clean on my PC, and I noticed that there is a metric assload of dust stuck to the rear fan area and the little vent/res mount off to the side of the expansion slots. Without going into too much detail, some rather fine magnetic mesh that I can slap on my case (Enthoo Pro) would be really nice.

 

2. Tying into this, I need to get a little more air into the case to balance the amount my H115i is sucking out. Something that will happily run face down in the bottom of my case at 700RPM while making very little noise and moving a good amount of air is more or less a necessity. Also I don't really care if its 3-pin or 4-pin PWM, so long as it plugs into my mobo and I can control speeds I'm happy.

1) Demcifilter is the best, but it's still just a thin mediocre dust filter so that's why I use this:

A Noctua NF-S12A ran pretty well on the bottom of my enthoo pro, although it blocked the bottom row power supply cables (modular power supply), so I removed it :P

Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

 

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Yeah... I shouldn't make topics at 1AM. Basically just a 140mm fan *should* do it, but just in case pointers for a 120mm would be appreciated as well.

Bequiet silent wings imo.

Quieter than most noctuas, slightly less static pressure.
