The new Sabertooth has PCIe 3.0, so it wins my vote even though I'm a Gigabyte fanboy.

Not even much of a comparison. Ones a 990fx and the other is 990x.

Although for @linus7 there is no performance hit between pci 3.0 and pci 2.0 and all cards that work in a 3.0 also work in a 2.0 slot!:)

Hope I could help!

True, but future cards will begin to utilize PCIe 3.0

You also need to consider that AMD CPUs themselves might not support PCIe 3 speeds even though motherboards have it.

The Gigabyte board has faulty RAID (unless they fixed it in a revision, not sure)

With the Sabertooth you're getting better quality VRM and materials, which is why I'd pick that. It's really the cheapest board I can recommend on the 990FX chipset.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

My manual says to install RAID driver from a flash/floppy during the OS install. Maybe that's the issue.
