i was wondering everytime i download somthing it starts at 2.5MB/s then it doesn't matter what it is it goes don to around 500KB/s but my speedtest is still fast and videos still play at 1440p fine

Just keeping this here as a Yeah, it's probably your ISP offering some sort of burst feature. I know a lot of people that this happens to.

well i live out of town so it uses an antenna but the modem has a coax cable form the antenna going into it.

So you have satellite internet? You can't really expect much from satellite internet, so that's really the only explanation for your speeds. Not much you can do about it except wait for an actual ISP to run cables to you.

Seems like your download speed is higher than it should be. 20.000 mbit/s are 2,5 MB/s. I assume that this speed is only for a short period of time because it seems unlikely that your ISP offers a free performance increase. Its 25% faster than it should be.

yeah we pay for 20 mbps but that should still give us at least 2  MB/s but i only get 500-1000 KB/s when downloading a big file

so i pay for 20 mbits but anytime i download anything for a long time it slows down to half or a quarter but the speed test is still fine and streaming 1400p youtube is still good. steam origin windows store google chrome all 500KB/s -1 MB/sec

You have satellite internet. Satellite internet is known to be garbage and unreliable. Until you get actual an actual wired DSL service to run internet to you, you're pretty screwed. 

 

The thing with internet service providers is, they can advertise a certain speed, but in your contract it states that you probably won't be getting that all the time.
