Intel 8th generation?

when is intel next generation going to be released?

currently im planning to buy i7 7700k, im waiting for the next generation i7 8800k?

Probably Q1 2018 for consumers.

 

Consider Ryzen however.

a R5 1600X with 3Ghz RAM seems to be very close to the 7700K in gaming, and crush it in everything else.

what do you have now? are you seeing limitations for your current tasks when using your current build? depending on that you may want to upgrade or wait.

I keep my crystal balls locked away sorry, last time I lent them to someone they came back uncalibrated and were just refracting light from the opposite side within fixed a temporal position.

how come ryzen 5 is faster?

What do you intend to do with you PC?  

 

Gaming / Adobe products for photo & video editing = stick with your plan and get a 7700k.

 

Gaming / streaming and editing with stuff that you know can use all cores efficiently = go with Ryzen 7

It has way cores.

so for productivity it's much better.

if you are doing something demanding while gaming, like streaming, the 7700K can't handle it well, while a 1600X can.

 

for gaming, which only uses a few cores, it's not as good, but still good enough.

Might was well just wait for 9th gen, no wait for 10th. Forget that wait for 11th. Don't buy and wait until Intel collaspe and then get their cpu cause, there won't be anymore cpus from Intel that's better than what you have.

It depends on what your using your PC for; i7 7700k is currently faster for gaming and Single threaded applications. But as the update to ashes of singularity shows, when optimized properly, Ryzen can perform well in games too. That's just one game though, developers might all optimize in the future or they won't; really won't know how the ball rolls... only time will tell. In multi-threaded applications and multitasking like game streaming, the Ryzen 7 is the clear winner. Ryzen 5 1600X will have 6 cores/12 threads so it's predicted that it will have a similar advantage but again... time will tell.

 

What exactly is your current system specs?
