Also post any if you know of them or got a product that wasn't like advertised

doesn't some mainboards come with covers for them? o.O

don't know which board I used as a baseline, but you can view what I thought would be something like a cover (or maybe placeholder...?) here

but damn its advertising. They want to sell stuff, and the want you to buy it...

I'm not sure I follow; were you thinking the non-photo realistic graphic on the left was going to be what it actually looked like? It's pretty easy to see that the first was a unspecific graphic, and not even close to a render or real photo.

Kind of like seeing this:
stock-vector-a-fanless-gpu-co-processor-

and expecting the graphics card to look like that.

I get what you are saying but that photo is a horrible example, Its just generic, no markings no branding.. If you say this picture and got something that was just the Board with a sticker on it would you be happy ? at least though they did correct it on their site. My point is the marketing pics used are completely miss leading and thats annoying as hell.

Also if you are publicly publishing a picture of a item you are selling you can't just post whatever you want, it needs to have some bearing on what the final product is release unless you state so, ie This is a Beta Design. which is not marked anywhere in the advert.

If the picture was more real, I would absolutely agree with you. Something along the lines of "drive may not be exactly as shown," would have to be attached to it. But given the look of it, and the fact that the scale of the drive itself is wrong, I don't share your same outrage; definitely understand it though.

What is interesting is your poor sentence structure, lack of punctuation, and terrible presentation; clearly indicates you are tickled to death with anger.

What heat spreader are you talking about? I'm not seeing it in this horridly presented thread.

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

It's because while advertising, they use the 3D image of the object created in 3Ds Max or so, thus giving it different look and texture.

They use 3D as they can hence orient in any way and give any lighting, also 3D is created before mass producing, so as to give the board an idea of design.

I know how it works :P , What I mean is the one advertised, Nice clean black heat spreader over the whole side, vs the Sticker at the top bit with the barcodes and such.

It wouldn't be hard to rendner it the same way, this is a large company we talking about, as mentioned above more upset that it isn't coming out looking like the advert one as I really like the look and feel like I got "Click baited" by the add.

I agree with you, but IMO, reproducing the circuit would be difficult thing, as there are like 10-20 prototypes while developing, and let us say, they finalize one, then they'd better mass produce it, rather than again 3D imaging it, it'll be not worth the effort.

Some motherboards do that but it's not always a good thing:
