Budget Mid-Tier Gaming/Dev PC

Building a PC for my brother, who has a budget of around £600 right now. He wants the system primarily as an upgrade from his laptop for hobby game creation in Unreal Engine, plus a few games such as Anno and Tomb Raider (1080p).

He was pretty set on an i7, so also considering second-hand options, although doubt that it's needed for his use-cases?

Unfortunately he needs it fairly short notice, so not able to wait for Ryzen 5 launch.

Upgrade paths are double the memory, and potential larger hdd storage add-on.

Case is just something cheap and not fixed.

Just wanted to check people's thoughts on this build. It's been a while since I've built (2012), and normally a little higher price range.

Edit: Fixed Graphics card to something in-stock

Yeah, £18 more seems a lot for +20W. Didn't think that there'd be a problem with EVGA? That's new to me. Although semi-modularity is nice.

Of course, most of the world usesbahotty psus from random brands, as that's what OEMs throw on. That being said, it's always a good idea to use a high quality to power supply. A power supply can easily bring down the rest of a system with it when it fails. Brand also doesn't mean a lot, as brands like evga make phenomenal psus and trash psus. The cx450m that I linked is generally considered to be a slightly above average PSU, and on my opinion should be the cheapest anyone goes on a PSU.

Evga is a good brand, but that particular PSU is very low quality.

I suggest a tier 3 or above unit from this list -
