Which would u rather have?

NSDUO
Go to solution Solved by Droidbot,

definitely Ryzen, 8350 is fucking trash now

Would u rather have a fx 8350 and a rx 470 with a 2560x1080 75hz monitor or a ryzen 5 1400x and a rx 470 with a 1920x1080 60hz monitor? Option 1 is $20 less. I don't care about upgrading in the future because by the time I do that am4 will be obsolete as well. And there are hardly any am4 boards available rn.

If you don't care about upgrading an old weak slow ass FX 8350 at all then don't get it at the first place

No competition.

BTW:

AM4 will not be obsolete by the time you upgrade in the future.

IIRC, AMD has said they will be sticking with AM4 until 2020. even when that happens, a platform takes 2 or 3 years to become old, and 2 or 3 more to become somewhat obsolete.

unless you plan to keep your PC until 2023, AM4 will still be relevant. probably in the same position LGA 1150 is in right now. (still a good chipset, lots of good features, but missing some things which 1151 has like DDR4 and Thunderbolt 3)

But ok

It's because for general tasks and gaming even a Pentium G4560 is quicker than the 8350, and that's like $60 something

idk

With good reason.

It's honestly really crap.

Even worse than a pentium

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-FX-8350-vs-Intel-Pentium-G4560/1489vs3892

it's a 4 year old CPU built on an even older platform, with crappy IPC.

Plus, don't you want USB 3.0 in your system?

Option 2 - Ryzen

And then overclock monitor.

I wanted the option 1 monitor because it's an ultrawide. Idc about refresh rate as long as it's above 60

How much is option 1 vs 2 with the same ultra wide monitor?

Well, the FX 8350 and the AM3+ platform for all intents and purposes are obsolete, so I'd rather have something that's remotely relevant.

$800 for option 1 $870 for option 2. My budget is $810 guess I can get a loan from my parents if I need too.

Yea, definitely worth it to save extra $60 for ability to have 2 full windows opened.
