Hello people! I went into my bios to see if I could change the core clock on my CPU and it let me. I was wondering would it work? Especially when my CPU is locked, its an i5 4690 and my motherboard is Z97-A (please don't judge lol)

Thanks.

That's skylake chips tho...he has a haswell chip so... :P

shouldn't work , considering intel locks it in hardware . But why not try anyway ?

nothing weird there. 4690 has a boost ratio of 39 . You won't be getting more than 105 Bclock though...

105MHz would be your limit usually.

nothing out of the ordinary in that pic . Just the cpu operating normally . You'll notice the Ratio doesn't exceed the max 39 listed by intel.

Hey, we never said anything about Multiplier or BCLK overclocking...

Soooo technically you were still wrong for assuming it was a multiplier OC :P

Well actually , he mentionned the 4690 as "locked" , meaning the multiplier .

And he won't be getting more than 105mhz though

Why don't we call both of us correct? :D

at the very least . I don't expect it to last more than 15 minutes , but if you plan on using it 24/7 , you need at least 12 hours
