CPU locked overclocking?

Hello people! I went into my bios to see if I could change the core clock on my CPU and it let me. I was wondering would it work? Especially when my CPU is locked, its an i5 4690 and my motherboard is Z97-A (please don't judge lol)

Won't work unless it's a k processor. There were boards that could do this, but intel nuked it via a secret micro code delivered by windows update, and poof, no more overclocking non-k processors.

That's skylake chips tho...he has a haswell chip so...

shouldn't work , considering intel locks it in hardware . But why not try anyway ?

I got it to 4Ghz  I might increase it

nothing weird there. 4690 has a boost ratio of 39 . You won't be getting more than 105 Bclock though...

105MHz would be your limit usually.

nothing out of the ordinary in that pic . Just the cpu operating normally . You'll notice the Ratio doesn't exceed the max 39 listed by intel.

Well actually , he mentionned the 4690 as "locked" , meaning the multiplier . 

And he won't be getting more than 105mhz though

at the very least . I don't expect it to last more than 15 minutes , but if you plan on using it 24/7 , you need at least 12 hours

LOL. it failed at 25 minutes. Well at least at 105 works.  an extra 500mhz on a locked CPU
