i bought zotac gtx 1060 6gb amp edition and i was disappointed when i figured out that it has no backplate, does it really matter?

It looks good, other than that they have little to no use. Until one or two years back almost no GPU had a backplate.

It helps protect it when handling, it looks cleaner, and if the VRAM is mounted on the back it can add to cooling. Otherwise most don't do anything

Backplates are purely for aesthetic purpose, one could argue it protects the back of the card but honestly if something "falls" on it the potential of damage should be the same for the same part.
