Backing up 10TB+ Locally

I need to back up my movie database. I dont need it to be backed up offsite or anythign of the likes, but I do need to back it up locally. What is the best way to back up 10+TB?

Just keeping this here as a Just had a client come in thursday with a WD blue drive that died.

 

That brought it to a data recovery center and they couldnt do anything- wont be selling anymore WD drives.

 

I personally only go with seagate.

Wasn't HGST purchased by WD recently? How do we know that the new batch of drives are equally as reliable. And I sort of forgot hitachi existed lol

Iirc, yes, but WD is prepared to go insanely far to keep the rep of HGST high. Higher than they will go with their own WD enterprise drives.

If reliability is key, HGST is still king beating both WD and seagate.

 

I actually like toshiba drives but whatever :P

They still seem to be going strong, I know WD purchased them but I don't think they have messed with any of their production procedures.

It's statistical data like these that convinced me to get a pair 3TB HGST NAS HDDs last November and built my computer with it as the RAID 1 data drive.

 

Backblaze does happen to make use of consumer hard drives as their data storage, and actually made them into a reliability report, which is valuable intel for me.

I'll go to HGST again if I'm running out of space or going to enter production tasks, but hopefully I have a better budget if that time comes some years later.

 

The RAID will help in saving the data in a drive fail before resorting to restore from the older drive image copy in an external HDD. Can't back up every week without stressing the external HDD when it isn't supposed to be being actively used that often.

Always wait until the Black Friday sales, HGST drives seem to usually have good discounts.

Or in Newegg's case, Black November. The lack of sales tax helps in keeping total costs reasonable. (didn't use Newegg for the CPU, 500GB SSD, and some others, and instead went to Micro Center, just because I just happen to get things on the fly, including some tools like antistatic mat + wrist on clearance sale, and driver bits for the small screws.)
