Does anyone have any idea what this on my lockscreen is?

Abudis

Hello guys.

The following thing appeared on my lockscreen (Galaxy S5+, all stock) a few days ago. I was charging my device and when I picked it up to check on it, I saw a very similar thing on my phone. The only difference being the background which I think was a parrot instead of the tiger. Without thinking, I unlocked my phone but couldn't replicate the result. A few minutes later, I checked on my phone again, to find the following image. I told a friend to quickly grab a photo of it, since I didn't know if a screenshot would do the trick. From that occurrence. I haven't seen it again. Does anyone have the slightest idea what this is or how to find out about it?

Just looks like a dumb setting to me... making sure you don't miss calls as it's on silent. Haven't seen it myself, but I don't own a samsung, so just samsung's idiot proofing type software I guess?

Owned an S4 and currently have an S7 Edge. Keep my phone on silent all the time and haven't encountered that message. Kek'd at idiot proof.

But why "Slide to unlock" which is a typical iOS phrase if I'm not mistaken. I don't think any of Samsung's software is the culprit.

Is there any way to check which apps have access to change my lock-screen?

Oh, I have no idea then if it isn't some samsung software, sorry! I would think it might be some adware or soemthing then maybe, run malwarebytes and see if it gives you a warning for any software.

@paddy-stone Malwarebytes comes back clean. Should I trust that result? If I was sure it was just a weird app-setting I wouldn't worry so much. If I can exclude the chance of something malicious I will be much more at ease

Well, it might not be malicious as such, but more likely PUP or similar, so might be some software that you potentially don't want? so like alters settings/lockscreen etc. I don't want to worry you, it might be harmless after all seeing as it is only telling you your phone is set to silent and you might miss phone calls... that's why I assumed it was Samsung software as I can remember a few things online about people complaining that there phone was on silent and missed calls, or that it acted up or something - can't remember too much about it TBH, but pretty sure that was to do with S series phones maybe a year or 2 ago?

If you're unsure, have a look through any software you may have installed recently and if it looks suspect un-install it... see if the problem has gone. If the problem persists even after un-installing tons of software, then maybe a wipe might be in order and start from scratch again. I like to do this at least once a year anyway as crap just builds up after a while.

Oh, I just thought of something... do you have any security/anti-virus or battery saver apps? they sometimes give you warnings about stuff like this.

Ahh OK... maybe run another virus scanning app like sophos/bitdefender.. just for a second/third look... I'm almost positive it's not malicious, but just to be sure. Also if you can't find any apps that could possibly be the culprit, I would definitely reset the device and start again, but that's just me, I don't keep much on my phone, most is either cloud access or NAS etc and for the occassional apps for downtime, other than that it's mostly work stuff but always keep my contacts backed up and so on, so not a big deal for me when needs resetting.

Guys, I am returning with an update on the situation. The peculiar lock-screen returned today, this time once with a train on tracks and once with a rather happy frog in the background. I did take screenshots of both instances but it's pretty much the same thing. It happened again while I was charging my device and decided to check on it. Today I interacted with it though. I pressed the green "I don't want to miss calls" button and my phone came of silent mode. So I think we are looking for an app that has such permissions, I guess? How can I find these apps that can change this?

Haven't tried it myself, but it might tell you something.

Very useful app for what I am looking for. And why the f is a baby crying detector version 1.0 on my phone?! And why has it used 26.5MBs of data since December?!

You're not the only one with this problem, it looks to be the Peel Remote app.  I disabled mine and it seems to have disappeared.  See here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4/777821-slide-unlock-screen-suddenly.html

What a find! Actually, I had figured it out myself (I thought I had at least - should have posted it here) but your post really made it sure. I used the app @Zonus recommended and went through many types of permissions but I got focused more on the ones called "WAKE_LOCK" and "MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS" as though the above-mentioned lock-screen I could unmute my phone. The "greatest common factor" was the Peel Remote app. Because it is such a stupid app, I thought that it could very well be the one responsible for that weird lock-screen. I disabled it, I wiped it of the face of the earth and since then that screen hadn't occur again. I thought it did the trick but had my doubts. Your post though, really cemented that thought. Thanks!
