Is it possible to interface with a smartphone camera?

Acorn Eyes

I'm thinking of making a go pro built into my clothes as a fun project.

A s7 camera goes for $60 and I already have a Feather Arduino board lying around (I'm not sure if it's powerful enough to talk to the camera though).

It's small, light, and has great video quality.

But is it even possible to interface with a smartphone camera or is there some kind of OEM trickery preventing me?

Don't talk about stale memes.

its probably a custom connector, so unlikely you can even connect it

An arduino is most definetly out of the question for a project involving camera grade imaging. Only use arduino for simple embedded designs that focus on IO with low data volumes. Just get a go-pro, its not worth the hassle to try and find the datasheet for a phone camera module and try to reverse engineer it.
