Would it be worth it going from 3570K to 7700K in about a month?

Pretty much title. I've made the jump to 4K (almost a year ago actually) and am starting to really feel like I've been getting bottle necked by my processor (3570K @4.1GHz). So I got a sort of upgrade itch. But by the time I could have the money for not only a new processor, but a new motherboard and DDR4 RAM as well, it'd be 2-3 months from now. So by that point, would it still be worth upgrading to a 7700K or waiting for whatever the next offering would be? I do have certain needs that the i7 fulfills, so an i5 isn't an option. Or is the 3570K just not bottlenecking in the promised land of 4k60FPS? Is the issue more GPU (980 Ti SC)?

If you already have a Z series motherboard, then sure, just upgrade to the 7700K and then you don't need to purchase a new board

(but wait until Ryzen 5 comes out for Intel's prices to fall)

 

if you for some reason bought a H or B series motherboard, it's worth it to wait until Ryzen 5 to get a 1600X.

Although Ryzen would probably drop prices by this point, would it be too close to a new intel offering? That's what I'm concerned with.

His 3570K is pretty dang close to Ryzen in terms of gaming performance....

I would get a 1080 Ti instead... At 4K, the GPU becomes the bottleneck... BTW, you can pick up a used 3770K for cheap on ebay...

Intel's next line up Cannonlake is going to be 14nm again so just another polishing, the 8700k will be not too different from the 6700k so you won't be missing much with the 7700k... but Ryzen 5 can be a good deal we will know by then.

 

At high resolution the GPU is more important, a 1080ti would give nice performance over the 980ti but I would wait for VEGA

He wants to game at 4K... A 1080 Ti will be much more beneficial for his needs, and he can get a 3770K for around $100 on ebay....

That was actually my original plan, but then I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that my CPU would probably bottleneck it, so that's not the case?

At 4K? Your CPU may bottleneck the 1080 Ti a little bit, but performance will be better than a 980 Ti+7700K combo

BTW, if you check on ebay, you can get a 3770K, for around $100

Increasing the resolution throws more work at the GPU than the CPU, therefore you can balance it up, if you wanted 144hz on 1080p then you'd need a powerful CPU to keep up but since your deal is 4k 60fps then your major fact is still the GPU, do like @PCGuy_5960 mentioned, look for a second hand i7 3770k and use the money you're saving for the highest end GPU you can afford like the 1080ti or the upcoming Vega line up and you should be fine for the most part.

Like others have said, wait for Ryzen R5 so Intel may drop prices a bit on their mainstream lineup. However I would check on your CPU and GPU usage while you're gaming at 4K, because depending on the games you may just be reaching the limit of the GPU.

Link? Cause the rumors I heard was 5% faster than the Titan and that would put it at or above a 1080ti

Then again the rx580 has been marketed to beat the 1070, Vega should come between the 1080 and 1080ti At least.. but oh well... we if learned something with Ryzen is that AMD does know how to make workstations but not gaming beasts... we'll see when it comes out.
