Safe rx480 temps

I accidently had my fan profile set to 0rpm while playing no mans sky for about 10 mins. I realized and the tempreture was at 87c and throttling. I quickly put it to 100% speed to cool it off and reset the fan profile. Would that short exposure to high temps damage the card?

Just keep fiddling with the profile until you can get around 60c-80c on load.

I did this with my 1060 once and it was sitting at like 92C for a good while. Your card should be fine

The original profile keeps it under 75c. I feel silly for doing that mistake. But I guess the card is designed to prevent damage

The card will throttle and eventually shut down to protect itself, so it shouldn't cause any damage

My 480 can go up to 89 just fine...  Yeah rip card

It's not healthy for the card in the long run, but it's fine for a short period of time. don't worry about it.

 

it wasn't even that hot. if it had gone up to 95c that would have been dangerous.

I would say keep it under 90°C and your safe. prolonged high temps above 85 might cause damage over time but it would take years.
