Amazon forges new deal with USPS to deliver packages on Sundays

digitalnav

“If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can order a backpack for your child on Friday and be packing it for them Sunday night,” said Amazon VP of worldwide operations Dave Clark, in a statement. “We’re excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day, and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service.”

I long for the day when I can order something and have it appear within an hour. I know there is eBayNOW and some other programs, but I want it widespread.

maybe one day 3d printing will become so advanced, all you purchase is the blueprint and have it printed right away

That's cool and all, but I still wouldn't trust USPS with a high-value package.

but theres nothing keeping you from saving the blueprint or makeing copies etc etc unless theres some strict ass DRMs

Would probably be an HDMI-type situation in which the DRM is hardware-bound encryption and there'll probably be some piracy but it'll be difficult as fuck

its possible for you to never have the blueprint. Imagine your online, you see a picture of a chair you like and you click control+p :P. But seriously, you just click print now and the chair would start printing without you ever seeing the blueprints. And it would be a lot cheaper too since all you are paying for is the concept of the chair that manufacturers never have to build and then you also have to  pay for the materials

how would you return stuff, and they would need servers if they were hosting stuff themselfs. Also what happens if the power dies while your printing and you get a half done chair.

LOL If Amazon UK stroke a deal with a carrier that would do the same service to all European countries, or at least the ones they offer FSSD already then RIP portuguese e-tailers!
