SSD vs. HDD, should u have an ssd as your primary drive?

I am curious on about SSD drives vs. HDD drives. I am in the R/D phase of my 2017 build and I am wondering if SSD's have taken the place of traditional HDD as primary drives?

Personally I'll never have an HDD inside my tower again.

If you have the dough, go SSD only.

 

However, most people should go with a 120GB SSD for OS and key programs

HDD for everything else

Primary drive like boot os and daily programs: yes

But everybody still have a HDD to go with for mass storage

Yeah nowadays having a ssd is very advisable, you can do like most, get a 120/240gb one for boot and essential programs, and use the HDD to storage the large files like movies, music, games and such.

My primary rig still has platter drives only for media(videos and movies) which I wish I had a better system for, like an NAS or something.

 

My Girlfriends rig ONLY has SSD's. Works great, no plans of HDD's in any future personal builds aside from the mentioned media storage.

I personally like having my OS and non-intrusive software on my main SSD. Everything else that is going to get used a lot (games, photoshop, OBS, video editors etc..) on a 2nd, larger SSD. Then a 2tb HDD for mass media storage like music and videos, as well as other random crap that I don't want or need the speeds of a SSD for.

I had a boot SSD and a hard drive but now I have another SSD for ALL my applications and a hard drive to store my youtube videos (Bianchi gaming, self promotion lol). If you don't need a shit ton of storage for game clips and youtube then you should be good with a 512gb or slightly more for 100$.

Not everyone :P Currently planning a new build with a buddy and there will be no HDD storage.
