The Phanteks is an awesome case.  As far as the PSU goes, 500W should be enough but I'm normally more comfortable with at least 600W.  Also - you might want to look at a modular PSU or you're gonna have a harder time with managing your cables.

You're going to need an OS and an SSD or HDD to put it on, I'd suggest Samsung 850 Evo SSDs or WD Black or Blue HDDs.

Might want to go with 600W+ for the PSU, that way you have room for future upgrades.

What's your total budget?

I am looking at around $1000. I think my requirements are around 300W but I am still going for a 500W supply.

Oh - you didn't ask for opinions on other parts, but I'm a big fan of the Cryorig H7 cooler vs the 212 EVO.  Zero issues with RAM clearance with the H7.

Can you suggest a good modular power supply in the same range. I would really appreciate that.

The PSU you chose is terrible. Nothing to do with wattage, its just very poor quality.
Do you need an OS, monitor, mouse, ect? Or just the essentials?

I have monitor, mouse, keyboard. I use it with my laptop when I am home. Just the essentials.

In that price range?  Uh no.  But SeaSonic makes some very good semi-modular ones at reasonable prices.

Modularity is not as important as the quality of the psu overall.

Also - I've never seen an issue with an EVGA PSU before.  Why do you suggest it would have a quality problem?

The 500B is a very low quality PSU, even though they do have very very nice models like the G2/G3 series (Of Which I have the 550w variant). The 500b is worse quality than even the CM green units, which are rated to only 30C ambient temps, which has actually caused issues in another build of mine.

Also, @JayantBedwal check if the motherboard in my posted build is natively compatible with the Kabylake 7000 series CPUS. If so change that 6700 out for a 7700. Its the same price and just a little better.

Or get a 200 series chipset board and get the 7700 anyway and not even need the aftermarket cooling.

You pay a ~$30 premium for a B250 board with the same features. And the build was already at the budget

I have a 1.5TB HDD and couple of external hard disk drives, so do not need one. Also, I am not into gaming and none of my software will extensively use a graphics card.

Oh well that changes a lot.. Probably should have mentioned that in the first post (And I should have asked too)
In that case I would say go with your first build but change that PSU out to a S12II 620w

Seasonic m12ii Currently gas a $10 MIR (the non modular s12ii also has a $5MIR)

Also for CPU cooler Enermax t40-BK  Looks way nicer than the evo (The cryorig cooler is also a very nice option in both performance and aesthetics)
