Can you please stop? Just check out 1 review... The 1700 can't go higher than 3.9GHz

Whichever (100 Mhz off), still seems to be pretty cool. That for alot less $$ and TDP, you can have something real nice.

Core i7 3770K @ 4.1Ghz (stock voltages) H100i, 32gig of RAM (9-9-9-24), 500gig Samsung EVO 850, 6 Monitors. GTX980ti, R9 380

Do you think that Gamers Nexus or Hardware Unboxed would risk their credibility for the sake of getting some $$? No...

Oh, and BTW, this is why is benchmarks were wrong, because he is contradicting his OWN benchmarks :D

In this video he showed that the 7700K outperforms the 6800K in games

In this video he shows that the 6800K beats the 1800X

And in this video he shows that the 1700 outperforms the 7700K

So there is definitely something wrong with his benchmarks, because if they were correct the 1700 would be faster than the 1800X xD

Yes I am aware.. less heat means longer lasting CPU. ;)

Not really.  As long as a CPU operates within heat range specs, temps don't matter until they become dangerous.  There are 0 studies that show warmers chip don't last as long as cooler chips.

I'm really interested in the video editing aspects of it. I was just about to pull the trigger on an i7-6850K, Asrock X99Extreme4 mobo, but pulled out. I wanted to see what people say about the Ryzen. I've been with Intel since the Core 2 Duo days and I haven't looked back. I was once 100% AMD during the Pentium 4 days. 31-stage pipeline CPU/nuclear reactor. a heater essentially. Then they did a complete redesign and made the Core 2. 31 stage pipeline down to 13. I just want the best bang for my money. Either it be AMD or Intel. I will not lie, I wanted the 40 PCI lanes and 128gig capability of the 2011-v3. However, 64gig may work just fine.

Adobe after effects barked at me saying I ran out of memory with 32gigs... unreal!

If you use Adobe After Effects, get a 6850K, it will perform better than the 1800X when both are overclocked.... AFAIK, After Effects LOVES clock speed and memory capacity :D

If you aren't already invested in x99 with some parts on-hand, you're best best may be to go with Ryzen 7.  64 gigs is plenty and PCIe lanes should only really come into play if you know for a fact that you need them.

Yeah, that is what I figured. I still wanted to see the results. Would love to get the 6900X, but hopefully Intel will drop the price down a little more. Thanks for the reply.

The 7700K performs better now

He should take down the video and admit that his benchmarks were wrong IMO...

Pretty bad when you have to release a follow-up video explaining why you were the only one with those types of results.

Wow!

See, its takes an 8 core 16 Thread CPU to keep up with a 4 core 8 thread CPU.

I still need more time to make a decision. I'm going to wait until the dust settles and the Radeon RX Vega is released.

So after watching  and reading reviews I am now thinking to myself as a gamer what benefit am I am going to see for at a minimum $129 (6700k to 1700) or $200 (6700k to 1700) and finally $300 (6700k vs 1800x)?

Thats some extra ram, some way towards a 4k monitor, better cooling, an RGB kit, towards some thunderbolt storage (not supported by AMD boards I read)

I'm no fanboy and this will be the first non Mac computer I have owned/built it years but I cant see a good reason to purchase ryzen given the price of the 6700k or 7700K.

If I am missing the obvious please let me know.

or maybe some games does not use more than 8 cores ?

Intel Boxed Core i7-6850K 580 Dolars - No Cooler - 6 core 12 thread

Ryzen 7 1700 370 Dolars - With Spire 8 core -16 thread

i7-7700K 340 Dolars - No Cooler 4 core - 8 thread

and gaming is 5-10 or even 20 fps in 1080p -

for pure gaming even 2600k is good with GTX 1070 for 1080p or even 1440p

for content creation Ryzen 1700 is a steal to my taste

will need to wait couple days to get benched to the hell and see it real.

Joker and GN discussing the Ryzen launch.  Joker is having a lot of streaming issues so bear with them.
