Build | 'Not today, Inthell' (Actually "Dimikicle")

themctipers

hopefully this build will go out good, because i am 100% relying on luck and how bad the canadian economy is, and how stupid people are™

i have no morals at this point, sorry for the people who got bamboozled

-

Feb 27 - Got a buyer

Feb 28 - Typed my plan out..

March 2 - Almost Got all my money required (everything but selling my PC parts)

-

So, this is my plan so far

  1. Sell my current system for about $650 CAD (or higher ;))
  • I am going to be selling my motherboard, CPU, ram and cooler as a 'combo' as I cannot reuse any of the parts
  • Motherboard and CPU goes for about $450 I believe, on the high end, and I think adding 32gb of ram (ddr3 1.5v, 1600mhz cas9) and a cpu cooler should bump it up to $650
  • I already have a buyer for this, he hopefully wont drop out of the deal.

      2. Try to sell my regular Zotac GTX 1070 for about $650+/- CAD (I can't find this card anywhere else but Newegg, which is $510.. :P Oh well,it's close enough to be an AMP to be an AMP right?)

  • This GPU is causing me so many problems, I don't even want it anymore.
  • My PSU is about to explode, and I don't want a dead 1070 on my hand
  • I cannot overclock this, because nvidia is (what i believe to be) doing anti consumer acts with Pascal, they've encrypted the BIOS and now require a digital signature to flash a new BIOS onto the GPU
  • Adding onto this, it's stuck at 1.04v for the GPU, and I can only +175Mhz on core, which brings it up to 2Ghz (I cannot add more voltage because for that I need to flash a new BIOS)
  • I don't want to physically mod the GPU because so far, I've had terrible luck with GPUs and I would like to have warranty for at least a few months, and to make sure the GPU is stable
  • Novideo drivers crash here and there, and have been way more unstable than ever before (when I used my 760 before, and still now)

     3. Drag myself onto my grandma's computer until I finished the build

  • Has a PCIE 16x slot, probably can slot in a 760, and hopefully it works
  • Has an i5 6500, pretty good right? General desktop usage, not a lot of gaming for me
  • What else will I use? Pentium 4?

     4. Wait until the parts I have are at a reasonable price, with availability

  • I probably will get the R7 1700x as my first part, as it is $550 CAD and I don't think the price is going to drop at all
  • Going for the 1700x, as the 1700 is 65w, and the 1800x is $650
  • I will wait for there to be more AM4 motherboards and coolers, as the 1700x doesn't include the wraith cooler
  • I need to get a new and good power supply, as this 600b isn't going to last very long. It's a $10 race between G2 550w, P2 650w, and Corsair RMx 550W (Will probably get the P2, tiny bit better efficiency and more watts!)
  • I am going to be getting a free case during march break, if not I can reuse a case I already have, or just go nude ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  • I will assume the R7 1700x has intergrated graphics, if not I will just lug around my GTX 760 for one more go..
  • After I build it, I will save up and wait for V E G A and Volta and see which is better for price/performance :)
  • I will try to spot out a cheap kit of DDR4 (Hopefully 2x8gb at the minimum, I consume fucktons of ram, and this is not even gaming yet..)
    Spoiler

    740a6dae9b739ec29914554765d5b7eb.png

I know it's running at 1333mhz, I should manually set it to 1600mhz soon..

    5. Get the parts, and build the damn thing

  • Building with socks on a carpet, let's go

  • Actually will be doing this on my table

  • Should go smooth, hopefully nothing is DOA

And that's it. That's my plan for Dimikicle (If this name is some word in another language/culture, I am changing it...

No PCPP yet, waiting for parts to drop, and prices will change and I will have to keep an eye out for cheap ram

edit: PCPP!

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/mHntsJ

price is $979.71 after tax.. :(

(Cooler left out interntionally because I am waiting for coolers to drop, motherboard will probably change quickly as more and more are getting released and for cheaper)

Hopefully I can cover the extra cost by using my GPU money and waiting for V E G A and whatever novideo has got (probably no video)

i'm sounding like a ayymd fanboy right now, am i?

i could.. always go for the 1800x.. but it has the same tdp/watt/performance.. just a tiny bit binned (and better stock clocks, but i dont give a shit about stock clocks)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I think your math is still off. Even at $530 with the sales tax you're only at $600 :P

People aren't going to pay you $50 more for a used product.

I now have $295 saved up!

This is not counting the money I will get for selling my PC

I probably will order a new PSU first, because that's the first component that I will be able to use with my current build..

Also, I am still waiting for some more benchmarks of Ryzen to make sure that it's good (so far it's an all around win for me)

Postponed until further notice.

I'll wait for Zen+ or whatever; only reason I was getting Zen was because the devaluation of older Intel processors and my dad doesn't want me selling my i7.

My grandma told me she'll buy it for me, but I'll tell her later today that I'll just wait for Zen+, the only reason why I wanted to sell the i7 now was because its the best time.
