Contrary to what the media is saying, these are normal microcenter prices.

In fact I got the 5820k for $299 at my Microcenter near it's release so actually the 5820k's price has gone up $20 at microcenter.

They offer discounted prices in store so you'll buy other things once they get you inside.

- ASUS X99 Deluxe - i7 5820k - Nvidia GTX 1080ti SLi - 4x4GB EVGA SSC 2800mhz DDR4 - Samsung SM951 500 - 2x Samsung 850 EVO 512 -

- EK Supremacy EVO CPU Block - EK FC 1080 GPU Blocks - EK XRES 100 DDC - EK Coolstream XE 360 - EK Coolstream XE 240 -

Its been explained multiple times that this isnt a price drop but just microcenter with their typical sales deals. Some retailers are price matching.

Intel hasnt lowered thwir MSRP

Exactly, I've started browsing the news online since I've been out of school and at a real job. In that time I've seen more BS in the news than I could've ever possibly imagined. I'd guess that for every honest unbiased article I could find 10 BS articles. I'm not just talking about untrustworthy sources either, major news outlets do it all the time as well. Fox, CNN, NBC, WSJ, WAPO, NY Times, LA Times, Engadget, ArsTech. Just about every outlet I can think of is guilty of producing this garbage money making propaganda.

You can thank frickin wccf for this one. They posted it and now every single tech news outlet (except for a few of the most reputable ones like Anandtech) has posted it as well, and it's not even real.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Shiguma Rik- Yeah, they are. They report one every single rumor even if it's a retarded rumor. Only reason I visit them is because ALL the rumors end up on their site one way or another so it's an easy quick way to see what rumors are happening ATM. But don't worry, I Adblock their site so they don't make any money off me :)

I remember though a while back when there was a post about a picture of an am4 asus itx board leaked apparently on there and then some guy came out with evidenced that he just photoshopped a z170 impact board and then emailed it to them and it was kinda a big scandal. Wccf took it down but there were posts on this forum and places like Reddit saying they got rekt :D

The prices are still ridiculous compared to 8 years ago, even when you adjust for inflation.
