Is 1080p gaming bad?

LyricalRain018

For those of you that play aaa games at 1080p, is it enjoyable? Can i play at 1080p instead of 1440p, save some money, and yet be having fun? Or will it prickle me at the back of my mind that i could have played at 1440p and yet chose 1080p?

Should i build a 1080p rig even when i can afford 1440p because 1080p still looks great?

you can always go with a 1080p monitor now, than once you have enough money sell off the old monitor and go 1440p. an rx 470 is enough for 1440p at decent settings so 1440p isn't all that expensive.

1080p 144hz monitor is more enjoyable compared to 1440p 60hz, yet at a lower price.

Yes continue gaming at 1080p.

1440p will look much better than 1080p

ehm...

my understanding of affording 1440p is that you are able to build a rig with the specs to run games in 1440p almost maxed out.

So if you want to spend the money, get a 1440p Monitor and spend a good amount of cash on the rig. It will look better than 1080p for sure.

If you don't want to blast all your money you would need to spend for 1440p, get a 1080p rig. That's all there is to consider from your side, this is nothing we can decide for you.

I personally would go for the 1440p rig with a decent monitor, as i can easily use the higher res in day to day tasks.

And of course, you can upgrade your rig down the road from 1080p maxed out to 1440p maxed out if you desire, this upgrade would probably contain only a better gpu and a 1440p monitor

There´s nothing wrong with 1080p if you use a 24" Display.

If you plan for 27"+. 1440p is a must.

Now this depends a lot, 144hz is not required if you are not into fast paced games, esports and such, I personally DID try both and I do reckon the quality increase from the higher refresh rate however I do still prefer playing on higher resolutions and on IPs panels since I am more of a single player campaign person and image quality comes first.

It depends a lot on what are your likings, but about OP question There literally is nothing wrong with 1080p, it still is a great resolution to play games at and since hardware is advancing you can get a relatively cheaper card these days that is capable of good performance on it.

A good 1440p 144hz monitor is very expensive while you can get a great 1920x1080 144hz for a fair amount.

That is kinda stupid...I play 1440x900 and everything looks good. I know that 4k is WAY better, but its not like my resolution is BAD.

1080p is good, there is nothing wrong with it.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with 1080P gaming, especially if you can get a 100hz monitor or something. I have a decent 1080p 60hz monitor right now and I don't plan on upgrading any time soon

Yes, playing games at 144hz beats 60hz every time, and 100fps+ is way easier to achieve at 1080p.
