How good is 1080p gaming?

For those of you who played at 1080p and have moved to 1440p, how large is the difference, purely for gaming?

There is a difference and you can definately see it. I'd call it noticable. The biggest difference IMO is moving from 1080p to 4K.

Depends on the Display Size. 27" Difference between 1440p and 4K is almost none. Beside the Fact that you loose 3/4 of your Frames. The Difference between 1080p and 1440p on the other hand is big on a 27" Display. I would say anything up to 24", 1080p is fine.

1080p is good enough.

I still use a 40inch TV at 1080p for third person gaming, and my monitor for first person gaming, I do want to go 4k but the good and old 1080p still gives beautiful images in The Witcher, GTA and any other game you play really

I found that 1440p is very much desired in an MMO with a configurable UI, like FFXIV. You get more room to put things around without compromising much in regards to how squished everything feels. And you don't have to do a reduced scale.

Otherwise it's hit or miss at times.
