Ok, I'll do that. Thanks for helping.

You shouldn't do crossfire anyway. When you can afford a second 480, just sell your 480 and buy a better single GPU.

Is that $300 USD in the US?

In any case, the XFX GTR is probably the best to buy at around $250 for the 8GB version

but the ASUS Strixx 480 is the most overbuilt for overclocking and air cooling, wouldn't exactly recommend that one due to price

Temps are going to be the same the only real difference will be in fan speed since the gaming X has larger fans and it would run a bit quieter, but the GTR I believe has the better PCB for overclocking

Buildzoid's XFX GTR hit 1560mhz core on water with a modified bios, don't remember the memory clock, this channel has PCB breakdowns on a lot of the 480s

I don't pretend to do Crossfire right now, I think in a couple months when I have the money.

That's what I mean, in a couple months instead of buying another 480 just sells yours and buy a better single GPU.

Apparently there's a fun factor to running 2 GPUs

Also you could try to top the Crossfire 480 charts on firestrike

the both have the same core clock 1120Mhz but the XFX has a higher boost clock 1338MHz to the MSI cards 1316Mhz. The MSI card can go up to 73 degrees under load and the XFX card is pretty much the same

It's better to have a single high end GPU than two low end GPUs.

In almost all games a single GPU will eprform better.

You also don't need to deal with extra heat, power consumption, multi-GPU issues, noise, etc etc etc.

Should be fine then for all but the most extreme of 144hz gaming, although you may want to consider Upgrading to Ryzen 7 over an i7 in the future to get the extra cores

Some people just don't care and want to play with running 2 GPUs

about 30% of the time you get really nice scaling and performance you wouldn't have otherwise

I can almost recommend 480 crossfire simply due to it's pricing, if crossfire doesn't work then you only have a $200 GPU sitting idle

1080p 120Hz

Suppose you might need crossfire'd 480s to try and max it out, although you will be CPU limited in some titles from hitting 120fps

I'd probably suggest just saving up and then upgrading to Ryzen R7 rather than getting a 2nd 480, assuming Ryzen's performance is solid

Like in GTAV even assuming 100% scaling you wouldn't really hit 120fps

Unless you only play triple A games made in the past few years, it is FAR less than 30%.

DX12/Vulkan should help with adoption as well, but he should upgrade his CPU potentially if 120hz gaming is his goal

Ok, so I buy the 290$ XFX RX 480 and I save the money for an i7, right?

DX12/vulcan helps in general not specifically for multi-GPU.
