2GB or 4GB VRAM??

Ottens238

Hello everyone,

I want to build my pc but should I take a GPU with 2GB or 4GB of VRAM??

The games I'm going to play are GTA V, Overwatch, Call of Duty, etc.

I found the EVGA GTX 1050 2GB FTW (ATC = I'm not sure about) 3.0 GPU that costs me 129 dollars.

And I found the EVGA GTX 1050 SSC 4GB 'ATC' 3.0 GPU that costs me 149 dollars.

I'm on a budget but my first intention was to buy the 4GB GPU.

But do I really need that?

At 1080 or lower, 2gb is for the most part enough. Over 1080, 4gb is basically required.

You'd be fine with 2GB VRAM tbh if you are on budget

honestly, nowadays 4GB should be minimum. especially considering games nowadays. 2GB would be acceptable only if you're playing older/lower requirement games

spend a bit more on the 1050 TI and get the 4GB

Since you're playing GTA V, you DEFINITELY want 4GB of VRAM.

I would get the 4GB 1050Ti. It will be better in games like GTA that are VRAM-mongers and should last a little longer. The Ti also has more CUDA cores and is more powerful, regardless of VRAM. It's well worth the $20.

HOWEVER you can get a much more powerful RX470 for $145 after rebate [CHEAPER than a much weaker 1050Ti]

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126124&cm_re=rx_470-_-14-126-124-_-Product

or a less expensive, but slightly worse one, for $130 [same price as a 1050]

or save $10-$15 extra for an RX480 4GB

Where are you located? You can get a RX 480 4GB for $155 which is way faster than either of those.

a) it did quite well and does well in my Wifes PC now

b) it hits it limits every time i wanted to use any kind of grafics modding

in my opinion 4GB is a good amount with 1080p and some modding go for that!

More, always get more. Wildlands Beta max settings 1440p use 4.9GB Vram. GTA 5 can easy be pushed to 6GB.

Can you tell your full system specs. That will be helpful ; but anyways just get the 1050 Ti I mean just ask your parents for it .

If you're having any Exams going on or something then the best thing for you will be to go to start menu and CLICK THE POWER OFF button. That would be the most helpful thing you can do now.

The performance of the GPU itself is likely to be more limiting than VRAM in most games, but for $20 I'd probably still take the 4 GB version.
