Moving hdd from old pc to new pc

Aquados

I just learned I'm already associated with the my os. Do I simply move the hdd to the new system and reactivate it? ( will it detect all the new hardware? )

or do I have to prep it for the move.

Low chance of it actually booting properly without bluescreening. Even if it does boot, chance of bugs all over the place. Just do a clean reinstall. If you bought your copy of Windows from retail (i.e. didn't come preinstalled with your old system), you should be able to activate on the new system without a problem.

what about activation code

and can I have it installed onto ssd that is out of the box?

Activation code is the license key on your old system. And yes, you can have Windows install on a brand new SSD.

Make bootable USB, boot into that, select partition (installer will ask if you want to keep old files, select yes) and install. There are multiple more detailed guides on YT, here and all over internet.

That should work. However since its OEM, it might not. OEM stuff is always tricky.

Should be ok. If you are paranoid, disconnect HDD while install process is running and connect it back in when its done.
