Hey guys,

my PSU fan seems to be defective. My PSU is the PURE POWER L8-730W from bequiet and my father agreed to help me change the fan, since he is the one that knows all about such topics.

Here is the link to the bequiet page:

http://www.bequiet.com/de/powersupply/251

If I have to replace said fan, which one would fit?

From the page I conclude it's a 120mm silent wing 4 pin with 1802 rpm but I am not sure if those fans are standard 120mm fans 120x120x25mm

Should I get one of those for a replacement? -> http://www.mindfactory.de/search_result.php/search_query/bequiet+silent+wings+/Hardware/Kuehlung+Luft/Gehaeuseluefter/Gehaeuseluefter+120mm.html

Only people that know what they are talking about, please

Thanks in advance!
Best regards

I highly suggest contacting be quiet first if the psu is not too old (<3 years). They have great customer service and usually are very fast.

But AFAIK they use standard fans in their psus, so replacing them should be not a big problem. That fan should work

If it's under warranty then send it back to be Quiet! as they can fix it for you without voiding your warranty.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

1. Bad idea as opening up a PSU is never a good idea unless you know what you're doing and even then, it's not recommeded.

2. If it is a defective fan issue and you still have warranty left then request a RMA

If you can't request a RMA anymore then I guess if you don't go touching on those capacitors then it should be fine?

Anyway, the fan your PSU uses is a Bequiet Silent Wings L8 which looks close enough to a standard 120x120x25mm fan so... :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

What? As I said, there seriously is nothing here :)

Thanks so far for the feedback.
Yes my father is a professional and yes the warranty of the psu is already gone (couple of months after the 3 year period).

However, although I come from Germany, the customer support isn't as great as you guys claim it to be. It older than 3 years and therefore no support was provided on my request.
Bequiet doesn't repair the PSU's since it's probably to risky for them and they said they just exchange the whole unit.
Definetly going with Seasonic the next time.

Depending on local laws, you will become the manufacturer when modding trhe PSU with all the negative impact you can imagine!

Like when your modified PSU jams television or radio frequency, you can be in a world of hurt.

And that Manufacturers don't replace things outside of the Warranty period should be obvious...

Well, I made a different experience when buying quality products made in Germany. A bit disappointed that bequiet doesn't seem to belong among those.
