runing Ethernet cable outside

i want to run Ethernet cable outside to a shed so it has to go on the roof of three story house down the house and across the wall should i put the Ethernet cable through a  garden hoes to protect it from the sun and rain

you can buy ethernet cableing that is "exterior" or outside rated

Agree. Easiest option, if you really need a wired connection.

 

Although garden hose or PVC pipe might be cheaper.

300m of outside ethernet cable is £50 exactly the same price as normal c5e

You should use outdoor rated cable ran inside conduit.

 

Conduit protects the cable from physical damage.

 

The outdoor rated cable should be gel-filled with a tougher jacket. This protects the wires from water that will inevitably get inside the conduit. The filling prevents condensation inside the cable itself.

and outside cable is shielded. so a shovel will nog kill the cable in one blow. ( i have experience)
