Does any of you guys know what's the 1080 model in this area 51? It look different from every Area 51 1080 I saw on the internet.

Could just be an OEM reference design. Ask for the spec sheet that comes with those systems if you're that worried.

I just entered in the same spec computer and it easily came out $500 US cheaper after conversion. And why would you want two 1080s and a 6850k in the first place. 6800k is the same thing for $200 less with less pcie lanes.

Does any of you guys know what's the 1080 model in this area 51? It look different from every Area 51 1080 I saw on the internet.

 

It's probably an ASUS Turbo or something. Don't count me on that.

 

Or it's not actually a 1080.

 

EDIT: I'm questioning the cards in the picture are 1080's because I don't think I've seen green PCBs used for 1080's

That's just stating that AMD's Ryzen may be a better option, either performance wise or even price wise. It hasn't even released yet so nobody can say it's better yet. And yes you have your own reasons to choose what you want, but people here will offer their opinions and advice. I didn't like Dell products for a while but have recently got the XPS 13 and I love this thing. I'd feel good about personally buying an Alienware laptop.

If I create a thread about a 1080 model, I don't want the first answer to be "wait for zen" I'm sorry but I consider this as trolling. And like I said I have my own reason to choose Alienware.

I don't like Alienware's desktops either but there's no sense in being elitist to someone who's just asking a simple question about the machine. Doesn't matter what they're getting it for.

 

Obviously they've been exposed to LinusTechTips and know about custom PCs, so they probably know what they're buying.

Im not being elitist as id happily own intel, alienware, amd, razer. Hell i own a macbook. This isnt what im saying. Im saying that instead of buying a alienware/pre build, go to amazon/newegg etc and buy the parts. Then go to a local PC shop and get it done for no more than $100. Alienware is good but your spending $400 extra that is just for building and a special alien logo. Buying alienware will yield no improvements over buying used/new parts.
