Yes, you don't need to worry about activating or keys or anything like that.

I have never ever had any problem like that and Ive installed tons of Windows... o.O

Same. I've literally installed Windows at least a few hundred times and never seen this happen.

You wouldn't believe how many hundreds of people I have seen over the past four years have issues with windows because they installed while having other drives plugged in.

-want to remove a drive or move it to another PC, but can't because windows will not work without it (even though it is not the OS drive)

-format a non-OS drive, but the OS stops working because an OS partition was on it

-windows having issues updating or crashing (usually caused by not deleting all the old windows partitions before installing)

if you want a good guide on clean installing windows properly step by step, you can watch this video, where you can see how to delete all the partitions:

Also, keep in mind that this is a laptop with only one drive, so I didn't have to unplug any other drives.

PS notice in the video how I did not have to do anything with any key at all, just install and it is activated :)

If you want to be extra sure you don't lose your activated windows (in case you ever change your motherboard in the future) you should do this: https://www.howtogeek.com/226510/how-to-use-your-free-windows-10-license-after-changing-your-pc’s-hardware/

so you mean it's ok to reinstall Windows if I unplugged all of the non-OS drive and only keep the system ssd?

Yeah. Just make sure you don't leave anything you want to keep on the SSD because it gets wiped.

Game saves, program files, stuff like that.

If you have a spare drive and want to be safe you can copy your SSD to the drive before wiping it.

That way if you realize you forgot something you can always search that drive for the file.

I am SURE that the issue is not they having their drives plugged in but a bad installation management... its not windows bad xD. And yeah, if you are not sure of going to do it right, just unplug them.
