Is there any risk of a PSU overload?

How many watts does the PSU "claims" it has?

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

300watts is enough for an i3 and 1050...

Should be fine although since it's a prebuilt PSU, you always run the risk of it actually not being able to actually supply it's claimed wattage. To be fair, an i3 4130 and a 1050 would only consume around 100-125 watts so around 150-175watts total including motherboard and other shizzle so it will be fine :P

I have a HP-Pavillion 500-336 and I was wondering if I could just slap a GTX 1050 and 4GB RAM in it. Can the OEM PSU handle it?

An i3 and 1050 will consume about 100W so you're in all likelihood going to be OK

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
