hello, so i really like having more then one monitor, but sadly i don't like how my desk/setup looks with it. Because my main monitor is 2560x1440 and the rest are way lower resolutions, so my question is, should i stay with 2 monitors, or should i upgrade to 3 or just downgrade to a single monitor and overall get a better visual

CPU - i7-4790k

GPU - MSI 980 Ti

Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Memory - 32 GB DDR3

Storage - 3.4 TB

It's a pretty personal thing...you're really the only one that can say which one would be best for what you do.

I'd get 2 matching monitors. I can't stand mismatched multi monitor set ups.

I thought it would bother me to have displays with vastly different resolutions but after getting them setup I immediately got used to it as their utility and the coolness of having a boatload of different sized ones quickly and completely overshadowed the annoyance from the mismatched displays. At one point I had two 1080p monitors, two 1440x900 monitors, a 1366x768 monitor and two 1024x768 monitors and it was FUCKING GLORIOUS.

Obviously people are different but if you have a need for them or a significant use for them then I would like to think that you would get over it. Alternatively you could just wait and save up enough money to buy matching monitors. I ran a bunch of mismatched ones for years before I finally replaced them with better ones but I hadnt been annoyed at the hodgepodge setup for years at that point.

Then there's no real point in upgrading to much of anything

Although there is a 4k 27" free-sync display around $300, but it's a TN panel

probably just keep your current 1440p display

and get a 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display at some point, it's just under $400
