Yo People :D

Looking at getting a new keyboard old one kinda biting the dust , thinking of getting Mx red keyboard but I want to know what would be the best one to get for a first timer to mechanical switches.?

Brother has K70 blue really don't like the noise but I like the feedback you get when pressing the keys.

Budget is around the £50-£80ish

If you like the tactile bump but not the click, MX browns might be something to look at.

This is a little over your budget but not by much. I have the mx red version and I have no complaints at all.

I use a Cougar 600k with Cherry MX Red, I adore it, not too annoying on noise ( and no clicking on each press ) best keyboard I have ever owned.  Key press is smooth and I can easily touch type no problem, and it's great in games.

To me, Browns are the best switches other then MX Clears, but those are very rare.

Aren't MX clears the really old ones?

They're from 1988. Not the oldest ones though. Even MX Black switches are older (1984)

I thought MX blacks were newer and MX clears were the oldest. You really do learn new things every day.

i think Reds are extremely boring to use, they feel so bad to type on and if you liked the tactile bump of a blue then blacks/greens/browns are for you

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I love the smooth typing action of the reds, blues would just cause domestic violence in my household. Not tried browns yet though.

They are great if you learned on a membrane keyboard though. But you are right about MX browns/greens/browns though for OP

The MX Grey switches often used for the spacebars in MX Clear boards are even older, from 1980.

MX reds are more for people who have been typing on a membrane keyboard. They are not made for people like you. MX brown, Blue, Green Black and clear are. I like MX reds because the tactile bump makes me loose focus even though it is satisfying although I would probably get used to it enough to be able to keep my focus, If I got MX blues, my sister would probably kill me because literally everything that happens in any bedroom can be heard in all of them.

It's personal preference. Anyone saying that browns are better than reds are just stating their opinion.

There is nothing that makes one better than the other.

The K95 comes in red but it's a bit expensive, although probably the last keyboard you will ever need to buy since it has everything you could want.
