Pcie to USB?

So is there something out there sorta like this

So that i could take my crappy laptop, plug a GPU into the card and plug in my monitor to the GPU and the USB to the laptop and enjoy games on my laptop?

That card uses a USB like interface, Is it actually USB? can i plug my mouse into it and use USB?

probably no usb does not have a high enough bandwidth for gpu

I don't have much knowledge on eGPUs, but I don't think this would work? You'd need a new-ish laptop with a Thunderbolt port.

Nah I don't think external GPU's work without Thunderbolt 2/3, as that's what supports PCIe. 

 

These cards have a little piece that fits into the PCIe slot, then uses a USB cable to relocate said slot, see below;

1: no, this doesnt work the way you think it does

2: as many people on the forum will tell you, this is a disaster performance wise and looks wise

3: they advertise it as "for mining"

4: this looks like disaster waiting to happen.

it totally connects up the GPU as it sould, but beyond that the troughput rate is so painfully slow even something like a 750Ti is probably a lost case for gaming.

Yeah, only type c has the bandwidth to do egpus.

the only *official* way to do it is thunderbolt, which is kinda on edge in terms of troughput performance with 4 pcie lanes.

A graphics card I would argue needs at the minimum PCIe 1.0 x8 to still have something resembling acceptable performance. However this speed is 20Gbps. This is shy of USB 3.0's 5Gbps or Gen 2's 10Gbps.

 

However, I would argue the minimum for "basically the same performance as x16" is PCIe 3.0 x4, which is 32Gbps. This is why Thunderbolt 3 is used, it has 40Gbps bandwidth. Thunderbolt 2 is doable, but it has 20Gbps.

also there just using the usb plug and cable. this won't work at all on a usb port, you need pcie.
