Switch out the SATA ssd for an NVME M.2 ssd and you should be good.

Yes but it's the same price as the SATA SSD and is better for his OS and day to day programs

If you want to spend the $200 difference you could upgrade the 6700K to 7700K and get a Z270 MoBo and a new cooler. Personally I would pocket the difference and save it for a rainy day.

 

PS.

The Strix 1080 > reference 1080. Might actually make the most difference in games between the two systems.

The sata is twice the capacity of the nvme one. And every day use shows no difference. Nvme only benefits for certain types of work loads. Gaming is not one of them.
