Is a Chromebook Pixel 2013 worth it at $360?

Hey LTT,

Just wondering whether a chromebook pixel is worth it for $360 USD (470 AUD plus 50 shipping to Australia). I know its a fairly old chip, however people have said amazing things about that laptop and the only really negative is battery life, and obviously price, and considering that the price has dropped by 3.5x since its release, is it worth picking up?

Keep in mind that this one is manufacturer refurbed, 64GB with 4g (not that I can use it because we don't have verizon). There is another option that would be $610 instead of $510, and the difference is that one is manufacturer refurbed, and the the other is brand new. Would the new one be worth the extra $100?

Some input would be helpful,

Ben

unless you're set on the laptop, it's much better to get like a used surface pro 3 or a dell e6440

both quicker machines with less used and abused batteries and better software.

idk

I've had a quick search on eBay AU, and the only surface pro 3 that I can find under $600 is either a cracked one or one with an i3, the other used ones are around $750-1000. Also, that dell looks ok, but used ones seem around the price of the chromebook, and also it looks to be a bit thick and heavy for school, not to mention the mechanical drive.

Where did you find the listing for a reasonably price pro 3? My quick searches on ebay and gumtree only found i3 models in the same price range of the chromebook. My understanding is that a 3rd gen i5 is quicker than a 4th gen i3, however i've only tried the former, and haven't had first hand experience (please correct me if I am wrong).

Not trying to bash these laptops and i'm not set on the chromebook, I'm just trying to understand the marketplace better (sorry if came across differently, i'm really tired).

If I've said something wrong, please correct me

The i3 is still slower than the CB's i5, but better screen and touch.

idk
