Deal on this gtx 1080 worth it?

Andzon

I've always had my eyes on the MSI gaming X but i found a deal about 100 bucks cheaper for the gigabyte g1 gaming which looks like a steal. Is this card worse though? I heard it traps heat easier, worse OC and msi has fans turned off at certain temps. The other choice is msi 1070 but will gigabyte 1080 be better? I want to buy now, i have been waiting so long, cant wait no longer! Cheers!

The G1 is much better IMO.. It has a larger cooler and 3 fans and it OCs like any other 1080 does

I heard the coolers suck on the Gigabyte Graphics Cards.

The geek himself.

Every 1080 will overclock to the same range of clock speed (~2000-2088) with a few exceptionally good cards can do over 2100mhz.

Buying MSI doesn't mean you will be able to oc higher than 2100mhz, it's called silicon lottery for a reason.

According to jayztwocents, the only 1080 card that he was able to go stable over 2100mhz is a founder's edition card, so yeah, it's all luck
