M.2 work on my Mobo

So i have the Asus Maximus VII Hero and want to get the Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB.

My motherboard has a M.2 Socket 3 which supports 2260/2280 storage devices (PCIE Mode).

So I'm just wondering if the M.2 drive will work with full speeds in my computer.

On the z97, the m.2 shares bandwidth with the pcie 2.0 slots.  Pcie2.0 slots route through the PCH and the DMI to the cpu.  I dont think they are the pci lanes that go directly to the cpu, like the ones graphics cards use. 

 

Might not affect performance though.
