Is the RX 480 8GB worth it over the 4GB?($50 diff)

Mallowpuffs

So I'm in need of a new card to replace my 960. Right now on Amazon the MSI 480 Armor cards are $160(4GB after MIR) and $210(8GB after MIR)

Is the 8GB really worth $50 more?

How often are these cards this low? Is this a once in a lifetime sale or more like a once every couple weeks sale?

about, but its still a great deal. One thing about MSI rebate is that I mailed mine in 2 months ago and I still haven't gotten my thing yet.

I don't consider rebates discounts given how unreliable they seem to be, but if your fine with fighting with the company to get the discount go ahead.

Though I don't think its worth 50 more tbh at least not % wise unless you plan to go 1440p or something

Same. I got an RX 480 4GB. Ordered it around Christmas and received it after new year. Turns out they do not allow for any rebate if your card was purcahsed before 2017. It's Power Color btw

I had a rebate on my XFX 480 and it took a while to come through but it did come through.

Seems pretty back and forth lol. For some reason I'm a day behind so I was thinking I had tomorrow to get it. Where in reality I have a few hours which can't easily happen.

Either way, still need to know 4GB vs 8GB. I play at 1080p but I dunno.

Go with the 4GB. I have a hard time seeing you use more than 4GB at 1080p. As long as you don't exceed 4GB of VRAM usage the 4GB version should perform almost identical to to the 8BG version.

The only reason you should need more than 4GB of VRAM at 1080p today is if you are running crossfire. If you plan on running CF someday you'll want the 8GB model. Otherwise get the 4GB.

If you're the type that love cranking up the setting and have >60fps minimum then grab that  4GB 480.
