Raspberry pi Domain Controller

Just wondering if I can run windows Server 2012 r2 or server 2016 on a pi. I want a domain controller that can run 24/7 but stay in my bedroom. Their are only 4 users that will be using it. It will only be taking up the entire role over night really when my rack server is offline. Is it possible?

no.

 

pi is arm, winserv only runs on x86.

i just came to a realisation... with the price of windows server, you can clearly also afford something better than a pi to run that on that is fanless ;)

And don't try to emulate, you're just asking for a whole lotta hurt emulating a server OS on a Pi.  Either use appropriate hardware with 2012, or you'll have to use a different domain controller client.

But if you're looking to play around with Domain Controls, you could always learn how to use Samba's LDAP functionality to build yourself a similar domain controller.

 

You wont have access to windows GPO's though if thats what you were trying to learn.

get a theicus machine that includes Server. Level1techs did a video on this.
