PC booting itself after aprox. 1 Minute sleep

adiobe

Hey guys/girls

I got this irritating problem that my pc boots itself after aprox. 1 minute sleep.

I've search allot already, but no solution have been found...

My System:

Windows 8 Pro

AMD Phenom x4

Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H

AMD HD5770

Samsung 840 250GB SSD

I recently bought the 840 SSD and I've clean installed windows 8 pro on it. My pc didn't have this problem before (and it also ran windows 8 pro), so this indicates me that none of the BIOS settings should matter.

Things I've tried:

  • Mouse, keyboard & Lan card can wake this pc from sleep: Disabled
  • Disabled apps that can update itself while sleep.
  • Update all drivers

So if anyone could come up with any solution that would be great!

Thx allot!

Control Panel > Power Options > Click "Change plan settings" for your currently selected plan > "Change advanced power settings" > "Sleep" > "Allow wake timers" > Disable.

Otherwise go to Event Viewer and look for Wakeup Event to see what process is causing your comp. to wake.

Hi,

I've set the "Allow wake timers" to disable but I have still the same problem.

I've found the Event viewer but I have no idea how to find what have woken up my pc.

I think I've found something

The system has returned from a low power state.

Sleep Time: ‎2013‎-‎03‎-‎20T08:51:52.004483900Z

Wake Time: ‎2013‎-‎03‎-‎20T08:52:35.729086800Z

Wake Source: Unknown

Great... Unknown :(

what happens if you unplug your mouse just after you hit sleep?

@fredrök: Nope the problem still hasn't been solved :(

@SubTract: My pc doesn't boot or anything when (un)plugging my mouse.

@windspeed36 : I don't really see the point of doing it since it already worked before (I'm kinda into the thinking of: If it ain't broke don't fix it, especially bit BIOS :p ).

ok simple.... ok well not simple... but I mean the issue you face is not uncommon

Something powers up your computer after 1 min or so, is your problem.

Usually this is one of the following device that is the culprit

-> Mouse/Keyboard. Open the device manager and go through everything under mouse and keyboard and make sure that the option (is available) to wake up the computer isn't enabled.

-> In the BIOS make sure that: Power by Mouse/Keyboard are disabled

-> Wake On LAN is enabled, in Device Manager AND your BIOS, make sure that wake up LAN for all your Ethernet controllers are disabled.

-> ErPp support in the BIOS is disable it, if you have it.

-> Set in the BIOS, disable PME Event Wake Up, same for Power On by Ring.

If you use Windows 7 or 8, you can run a diagnostics:

- Open the command prompt as true Administration

- type and hit Enter after: cd C:\

- type and hit Enter after: powercfg -energy

Wait about a minute to generate the report. Once done, you'll find a file: energy-report.html in C:\ drive at the root level.

When your computer wakes up, you can do: powercfg -lastwake to know the last device that woke up your computer from sleep.

This ^^^^^^^

You said it doesn't boot when you unplug your mouse I'd say your mouse is spazzing when it has power. the other option is to put your mouse upside down when you put your computer to sleep.

No no, I mean it does boot bot only after that 1 minute or so. I does not boot immediately when I plug in my mouse so it doesn't affect my unwanted bootings.

Try to reinstall the chip-set driver, this driver is usally the one responsible for power management issues.

powercfg -lastwake is the ticket to finding the cause. "powercfg" is a very handy utility. Also any mobo bought before Win 8 release will most likely need it's bios updated. Almost all of the board partners have released compatible ones for the relevant chip sets and corresponding model boards. At all price points
