Want a Razer Blade soon, should I wait for Kaby Lake refresh?

I would like to pick a 14" Blade up before April this year, but with everybody releasing Kaby Lake refreshes/updates I'm not sure if I should just buy the current late 2016 Blade, or wait a little bit to see if Razer starts pumping out Blades with Kaby Lake.

Obviously the performance difference is slim to none, but I'd rather not buy yesterdays model if the new one is about to come out.

What do you guys suggest?

You mean the person who doesn't spend hours gaming on it and who has close relations with Razer and as a result probably doesn't receive Blades with QC issues nor does he have customer support issues.

ahh I don't need it as a primary gaming machine, my desktop seems to be handling Solitaire and Minesweeper well enough for the moment (6900k, 64GB DDR4, 2x GTX 1080's in SLI), but i like how the Blade 14 feels.

I like the sturdy metal case, thinness, and power for general use with the ability to do some light gaming on the go. Is there something comparable that doesn't have a fruit logo on the lid?

The xps trackpad is lightcenturies ahead of the shit on the blade (and is actually pretty good -- only second to the one used on Macs).

I'm not sure how the XPS has a bad keyboard and the blade doesn't. The blade has less travel and the symbols aren't backlit.

The Blade's keyboard is backlit? (and short travel isn't necessarily bad -- not that I think the Blade's keyboard is better)

OP should probably get gs43vr or gs63vr for same form factor faster and cooler. That keyboard is one of the best. (and it costs alot less (get the kabylake edition))

Just get a P640HK1 or a P650HP6 from HID or LPC-Digital or a GS63VR from... idk where, XoticPC or something, and save yourself both money and headaches.

Seriously, don't buy a P640HK1 or P650HP6 from anywhere but LPC-Digital or HIDevolution. You'll want the Prema mod.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I know. But I don't think it is yet. Also, their Sager systems aren't going to be partnered. You need to buy their re-rebranded Force notebooks.

I mean typing on it. At work I have a Precision 5510 that seems to be identical to the XPS and the feeling of typing on it is not good for me, in addition to the TouchPad being so overly sensitive that while trying to type, even holding my wrists and hands up in the air the mouse pointer will jump around.

Also backlighting doesn't really affect my decision because I don't look at the keys except for Fn options.

Thanks to everyone of course for your input.  I will definitely consider those other models. The biggest appeal to me about a Blade is the power in such a thin but sturdy form factor but if i get a new laptop it needs to be reliable.

My current Lenovo X240 is terrible in most ways, but it has never given me problems.

if its light gaming get a macbook Pro. It has the Mac OSX and its reliable. it's hardware is overpriced thou.

If not, XPS is a great option but who uses a laptops keyboard.... they are.... how should i put it... they aren't cherry MX blue nor brown. get a external keyboard like from coolmaster. Once you try a Cherry MX keyboard you are spoit. Its like a teen learning that s/he could use the hand ;)

Yes, and it's precisely the fn keys where not having a symbol backlight is infuriating. It is fucking annoying, trust me. I have owned both.

They must be different than, because the XPS 15 has ana excellent trackpad with very good palm rejection. The Blade on the other hand has awful palm rejection.

The Blade might be powerful on paper, but it's going to throttle badly. So not only does it have lousy quality control and poort customer support, but it also doesn't really have the performance you think it has.

Mac's are terrible options for gaming. I love Macs/OSX and unless something drastic changes, I would never touch a non-Apple laptop, but I still wouldn't recommend a Mac for gaming.

Really? can you say that with a straight face? I mean after you used a Cherry MX. Then getting on a laptop and trying to type.

Are they great because you have no other option or maybe you had to use your Mechanical keyboard to smack this guy who was trying to bite you because that guy had the strong desire for human flesh after eating a contaminated burger?
