I have the Y500 which is very similar to that. It's the best laptop I have used that wasn't a $4000 fireplace.

Should be fine if you want it for gaming. It does not look all that portable and I bet battery life is not great.

It's pretty good, would have liked to see an SSD instead of a SSHD but at least you get more storage this way, but its an awesome gaming laptop for the price I've got to admit.
