Best 250$ish intel Cpu?

I'm building my first Pc and I'm trying to find the best intel Cpu for about 250$ ...any suggestion's?

if you dont care about having an iGPU, that's probably the best way to go.

I would say an i5-6600K (LGA1151) or Xeon 1231 V3 (LGA1150), but it depends on what you're trying to do.

well I am still trying to nail down a mother board ...which I can't do till I have the CPU...so what do you mean wen. you say" its depends on what your trying to do"

Also, you have to use the C232 or C236 chipsets, The regular consumer chipsets won't work.

I'm assuming you want to game if you're going to get a 1070, so what games are you trying to play? I'd go for an i5-6600K or i5-7600K with a Z-chipset.

Why not the Xeon with the C232 Gaming Board from ASUS? You still get most of the features.

you know.. i'd rather be recommending the i5 7600, because you're not locked down to C chipsets, and actually the most cpu hungry games on my testing list are "surprisingly" also the ones that do jack shit beyond 4 cores

 

EDIT: should add, the 7600's "recommended custommer price" is lower than that of the 1230v5

World of Warships, Warthunder (I'm kinda a sucker for the war games) so anything in that realm...also I work on 3D modeling ...so I was thinking maybe I Xeon would sute me well...and I originally picked the 1230 V5....but I wanted somebody else's opinion before I dropped 250$ on a CPU

Yes in that case look for a Xeon E3 1230 V5 and couple it with a C232 or C236 motherboard.

CPU and RAM OC can both be achieved via the BCLK method on Skylake locked CPUs.

Not on a C236 motherboard, unless you use one of those rare C236 from Asrock with SkyOC

The Xeon 1230 V5 is the same as an i7-6700, which costs $300. Since you asked for a $250 CPU we gave you the Xeon

if you can afford a i7 go for an i7. an extra 50 bucks for a i7 can go a long way if you like 3d modeling and designing.

so If I go with the 1230V5 ...what mother board should I pair it with? keep in mine that I would like too keep it under 100$ for the Mb....Un less its not spending the money on the 1230 then getting a cheaper Mb

You know, we could help you plan the whole build instead of going one part at a time. What's your budget for the wholre thing and where do you live?
