usb type C and monitor

_Pr0xy_

Hi, i have a laptop, and i bought a 144Hz monitor... But i forgot that HDMI on laptop doesn't support 144Hz in 1080p... But he has a usb type C connector, so i bought a usb type C => displayport... But when i connect it, i have a notification which tell me that the usb device is not recognized... I tried to update the driver but it didn't work... Do you have some ideas ?

Hi,

it seems the USB type C port is USB only, means you can't plug a monitor to your laptop this way

Well you can use it, and if you're lucky it might work at 144Hz over HDMI, but be sure to return that adapter if you can since you might've as well thrown the money that cost out of the window.

From Wikipedia:

Alternate Modes are optional USB Type-C features and devices are not required to support any specific Alternate Mode.

Thx, I understand now ^^
It seems that my HDMI port on my laptop is a 1.4 and the HDMI port on my monitor can handle only 60 Hz(google is my best friend :D).
Does HDMI 1.4 support 120Hz ? And can i buy a HDMI=>displayport adapter to have 120Hz?
Thx for helping me :)
